[ARCHIVED] DOT Considers Highway 75 Improvements

Highway 75 improvements concept

Improvements to establish Highway 75 for safe and efficient travel for years to come are being considered by the Iowa Department of Transportation.

The proposed project, which would include removing the existing, aging pavement, replacing it with an enhanced four-lane roadway, and adding safety features, is under the Iowa DOT Transportation Commission’s review.

The commission is considering addressing safety and condition needs on Highway 75 in Sioux Center as part of their draft five-year plan, which addresses road and bridge projects the DOT sees as critical to maintaining Iowa’s transportation infrastructure and creating opportunities for expanded economic activity. The focus is on providing modern, safe, and efficient transportation services to the public.

If the commission approves the plan, Sioux Center will begin the preliminary design phase, analyzing design options and studying project impacts.

“We are encouraged that the DOT is willing to look at partnering with us on improving Highway 75,” said Utilities Manager Murray Hulstein. “Highway 75 is central in our community. Historically it has been part of our economic strength and connections to the wider world, and we want to continue that for the next generations.”
