Joel Gonzalez-Sandoval has begun in his role as the Building Code Official for the City of Sioux Center.

In this role, Gonzalez will administer and enforce all the construction codes which have been adopted by the City Council, manage the City's Rental Housing Program, assist with economic development efforts through energy efficiency, and administer the nuisance abatement procedures.

“Joel has an excellent construction background and we feel he will be a great fit for the City team,” City Manager Scott Wynja said.

A Sioux Center Community Schools graduate, Gonzalez earned his Business Management Degree at Northwest Iowa Community College, has worked in construction, and serves in the Air National Guard 114th Fighter Wing. He began in his new role with the City on Aug. 15

“I’m looking forward to helping the community,” Gonzalez said. “I grew up here, and this is an opportunity to give back to the community.”

Gonzalez and his wife, Chelsea, live in Maurice, and in his free time, he enjoys CrossFit, playing sports, and spending time with family.
