The City of Sioux Center and the Iowa Department of Transportation are hosting a public meeting designed to equip property owners along the planned Highway 75 redesign with information for the next steps of the process.
The meeting on Thursday, Aug. 19, at Terrace View Event Center, will include an overview of the DOT’s process for purchasing right of way or easements for property owners and a review of the project. Right of way is property needed to build and maintain a public road, which will be owned primarily by the Iowa DOT for this project. Easements cover areas outside right of way that will be disturbed during construction for utilities and other purposes.
There will be two presentation time options with the same information presented at each: 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Each will be followed by an opportunity to speak with DOT and City staff.
There will be English/Spanish interpretation.
If property owners or others have questions or comments before the meeting or are not able to attend, they can email the City of Sioux Center at info@siouxcenter.org or call (712) 722-0761. There is also related property owner information from the DOT available on the City’s website at www.siouxcenter.org/highway75property.
“We encourage property owners to attend and learn more about this process with the DOT,” Utilities Manager Murray Hulstein said. “It is a priority to connect property owners with information that will help them all along this project, from design to right of way to construction in 2023-24.”
Terrace View Event Center is at 230 St Andrews Way, in Sioux Center.
