The Sioux Center City Council has selected Scott Wynja as the new city manager. Wynja will start September 13. Wynja, a Sioux Center native, is currently serving as Sheldon’s city manager, a role he has held for 14 years.
As city manager, Wynja will advance the council’s strategic goals for Sioux Center. He will direct the business of the city, provide vision and leadership for delivery of public services, and actively pursue community and economic development. “When I see what Sioux Center has done in the past, what they offer to the community, and what I can bring to the table to continue that tradition, that gets me excited,” Wynja said.
Sioux Center’s search for a new city manager began in January when Paul Clousing, city manager for the past 10 1/2 years, announced his intent to retire at the end of 2016. When Wynja starts in September, he will work with Clousing for a few months.
Wynja grew up in rural Sioux Center, attended Sioux Center Christian School, and graduated from Dordt College, in Sioux Center. He said he is excited to return to his hometown with his wife, Melanie, and their three daughters, Janae, Tori, and Keana.
