Siouxnami Waterpark in Sioux Center saw more than 61,200 visits this summer. All Seasons Center Director Dave Egdorf reported summer attendance at the waterpark surpassed last year’s numbers in both admissions and concession sales. This is Siouxnami Waterpark’s seventh summer being open.
“Siouxnami is a great quality of life amenity for local residents, and it’s also a huge attraction and tourist destination for folks to come to Sioux Center,” City Manager Scott Wynja said after Egdorf shared the numbers at a City Council meeting this week. “Word is out that it’s very economical to travel here and visit Siouxnami Waterpark. We try to keep it affordable, as we would rather have more people attending versus less attendance with higher prices.”
The outdoor waterpark, which features a variety of waterslides and pools, an aquatic zipline, a lazy river with waves, and a climbing wall, saw 36,851 general admission entries, about 2,750 more than in the summer of 2024. The remaining admissions were member check-ins: 24,375 this year.
The busiest day this summer saw 1,532 people. A total of 77 lifeguards were on staff this summer.
Mayor Dale Vander Berg thanked Egdorf and the Siouxnami staff for their work this summer and for being ambassadors for the community.
“For residents and visitors, you help make it a great summer,” the mayor said. “We like to showcase Sioux Center in a positive light, and with all of the people coming, Siouxnami is a big part of bringing people to town, so thank you and your staff for being the face of Sioux Center.”
Siouxnami concession set a record this summer, with $131,687 in sales. The number one item: slushies, with 5,296 sold. The next highest are bottled drinks with 4,218 sold and fountain drinks with 3,603 sold.
Egdorf says the waterpark is already looking toward next year, with outdoor pool maintenance and planning underway, with staff doing much of the work.
“I’ve been out doing some painting in the big pool, which is the first time since it was built,” he said. “When we have nice weather to be out there, we like to take advantage of it and paint it ourselves.”
