Sanitary Sewer System
The sanitary sewer system collects waste produced by each residential, commercial and industrial customer. This waste flows through the system to the wastewater treatment plant, where it undergoes multiple processes of treatment to remove materials that are harmful to the environment. After the treatment process, the treated waste flows into a nearby stream that eventually flows into the West Branch River.
Storm Sewer System
The storm sewer system collects surface and rain water that flows off each building, driveway, parking lot and street. The storm sewer system consists of:
- Detention basins
- Exposed waterways
- Intake structures
- Underground pipes
These structures convey water to nearby streams and creeks without treatment.
