Highway 75 traffic will be shifting to the newly-constructed west lanes in the construction area this Friday.
Contractors plan to shift all northbound and southbound traffic to the west lanes of Highway 75 from 13th-20th Street South on Friday, Sept. 22. They will then close the east lanes to remove the old pavement and begin storm sewer work there. The goal is to pave the east lanes before winter.
“We’re asking drivers to use extreme caution in this area especially during this traffic shift,” said Sioux Center Utilities Manager Murray Hulstein.
16th St. SW opening
When traffic switches, 16th St. SW will re-open from Highway 75 toward Walmart. When that opens and the stoplights there are fully in use, the orange temporary stoplights at 13th St. SW will be removed.
Starting Friday, 16th St. SE (near Memorial Funeral Home) will be closed to the highway for about one week due to storm sewer work.
“This shift marks the next stage of construction, and we are pleased with the progress,” Hulstein said. “Winter is coming, so we need to continue to advance the project.”
