The City of Sioux Center is participating in a county-wide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 29. Storm sirens will be activated at 10 a.m. Wednesday for this drill. If severe weather threatens on Wednesday, the drill will be delayed until Thursday.
This drill is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 27-31, highlighting the importance of being aware of and prepared for severe weather.
April-September, the City of Sioux Center will also test tornado sirens the first Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m.
Sirens are activated in severe weather to alert people who are outdoors to take shelter immediately.
Sirens are not designed to alert people inside buildings - if you are indoors and there is a threat of severe weather, please follow weather alerts on radio and other media.
