Sioux Center residents will have an opportunity to dispose of hazardous household materials on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 3-5:30 p.m.
The annual Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off will be held at the Sioux Center Fire Station south parking lot. Many items are accepted free of charge.
Household Hazardous Materials are materials that are corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive. Products that are hazardous usually have labels such as DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION.
Accepted items include:
- Degreasers
- Batteries (cell phone, rechargeable, lithium)
- Waxes & Polishes
- Solvents
- Lacquers & Thinners
- Caustic Household Cleaners
- Spot & Stain Removers
- Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs
- Pesticides & Herbicides
- Oil Based Paints
- Latex Paint
While most items are accepted for free, latex paint will be assessed a $1 per gallon fee.
This is a residential collection day only. Commercial hazardous waste is not accepted.
