Mayor Proclaims Wreaths Across America Day in Sioux Center

Mayor Dennis Walstra has proclaimed that Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 will be Wreaths Across America Day in Sioux Center.

Walstra signed the proclamation after it received approval from the Sioux Center City Council this week.

On Wreaths Across America Day, volunteers along with family members and friends will help adorn more than 300 grave sites in Sioux Center with wreaths. The event is coordinated by Sioux Center Wreaths Across America, assisted by Sioux Center Boy Scout Troop 211. Sioux Center will join more than 1,000 locations participating in laying wreaths out of remembrance and respect for our nation’s servicemen and women.

“This is a stirring tribute to the courage, honor and sacrifice of those who have guarded and preserved our nation’s freedom throughout history,” Mayor Walstra said.

The mission of Wreaths Across America is to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach children the value of freedom.
