Ideas are taking shape for adding some splash to Sioux Center’s outdoor water recreation options.
Planners shared aquatic center design ideas with the Sioux Center City Council this week as part of ongoing discussions about enhancing the outdoor pool at the All Seasons Center.
Fun features like a lazy river, a variety of water slides, diving boards, and a climbing wall could be added to the existing outdoor water area.
“The current outdoor pool is approximately 14 years old. Based on feedback from the public over the last several years, we want to consider adding some amenities for our growing community and improving aquatic recreational options for a wide range of ages,” said City Manager Scott Wynja.
Public input from previous surveys and the development of Sioux Center’s parks master plan helped direct city planners in shaping pool enhancement ideas.
They combined that information with tours of aquatic centers and research on pool options, then worked with Waters Edge Aquatic Design to create the concept shared with the council.
Within the next month, planners hope to consider any final input and move forward with final design for an expanded outdoor aquatic center.
“As we continue to finalize the concept plans, we are looking at starting construction in the spring of 2018, anticipating it would be open for people to enjoy in mid-2019,” Wynja said. “This project is part of supporting our growing community with great quality of life amenities.”
