New Wastewater Plant to be a Step Up

Council members visit wastewater treatment plant

The DNR recently approved Sioux Center’s new wastewater treatment plant site and noted the facility will have a positive impact on the environment.

The new plant will have several treatment steps including removing ammonia, nitrogen, and phosphorus, and it will discharge cleaner water than the existing plant.

This plant is being built to meet new DNR standards and replace our community’s aging equipment.

The new wastewater plant will be just west of Sioux Center’s existing plant. It should be operational in mid-2020.
